Outreach

During my undergraduate studies, I began teaching at a local preschool focused on nature and the outdoors. This was one of the most influential experiences of my time as an undergraduate, as I learned the importance of fostering early connections with the natural world for young learners. My dedication to expanding access to ecological education for students of all ages has been continued in my involvement in Outdoor Leadership Experience (OLE) as an undergraduate mentor for middle and high school students and as a volunteer with the Four Winds Nature Institute.

Young Voices of Science

In the fall of 2024, I participated in the Young Voices of Science program, a semester-long science communication workshop held by the Hubbard Brook Research Foundation. As a participant in the program, I created a four-part natural science curriculum to be implemented in elementary schools in New Haven, CT.

Mentorship

Teaching and mentorship have been a central part of my experience as a student in ecology. During my time at YSE, I served as Graduate Teaching Fellow for three semesters, in Data Exploration and Analysis (two semesters) and Introduction to Environmental Chemistry (one semester). I mentored an undergraduate student through Yale’s program for Summer Undergraduate Research in the Environmental Sciences (SURES). I have also mentored several graduate students as laboratory technicians during my time at YSE. As an undergraduate at Dartmouth College, I served as a teaching assistant in Ecology, Field Methods in Ecology, and Aquatic Ecology. I was also a tutor for an introductory course in the Earth Sciences through the First Generation Office to support first generation students such as myself. It is an immense privilege to serve as a mentor for students in ecology, and one I am excited to continue throughout my studies as a PhD student.
